Dumbledore stumbles ashore
What with winding roads, confusing sat navs and misleading road signs, getting lost can happen to the best of us. But when animals get lost it can be a little bit more than a nuisance; it can be a disaster. So when a dog walker discovered a young grey seal in the middle of a farmer’s field in Newton-Le-Willows, vets knew they had to act fast.

Although no-one is quite sure where he came from, experts think the seal could have swam up to 50 miles away from his home before clambering onto the land. Luckily for the seal, now named Dumbledore, he was spotted, rescued and is now being looked after at the RSPCA’s specialist seal unit at East Winch in Norwich. All of which probably makes him one of the best travelled seals in the UK.
Latest: Dumbledore has been diagnosed as suffering from pneumonia but is doing well.
